Independent sales representatives
You sell. We do everything else.
We are looking for people who already talk to local business owners for a living and want a product that is easy to explain, quick to close and priced where a one van operation can say yes.
What this arrangement is
What it is not
- Not a franchise. There is nothing to buy.
- No joining fee, license fee or territory purchase.
- No inventory, no equipment, no printing to arrange.
- No fulfillment. You never touch artwork or the post office.
The whole job is the conversation
A rep sells slots. That is the entire role. Once a business says yes and pays, the card leaves your hands and becomes our responsibility.
What you do
- Talk to local businesses in your area
- Check the category is open and quote the slot
- Take the payment through our booking system
- Collect a logo and the offer they want to run
What we do
- Design the ad and proof it to the advertiser
- Build the zone and pick the carrier routes
- Print, bundle, file the postal paperwork and drop it
- Handle artwork, proofs, print and the post office
- Handle refunds, wait credits and every awkward conversation about them
How commission works
Thirty percent of what the advertiser actually pays for every slot you sell, on every card, with no sliding scale to read and no asterisk at the bottom of the page. Renewals and add-ons are paid too, at the rates set out below.
of every slot you sell
A slot on the 9x12 card is $499, so a rep earns $149.70 on it, and sixteen slots on one full jumbo is $2,395.20. When an advertiser takes two slots together as the double, that is $899 and earns $269.70. A slot on the 6x11 is $249, so a rep earns $74.70, and sixteen slots on one full card is $1,195.20. The smaller card is an easier sale. There is no tier to reach first and no rate that only applies once the card is nearly full.
The terms in plain words:
- Commission is earned on money collected, never on a signed form. Slot commission is paid out once the card locks and mails; add-on commission once the advertiser's payment clears.
- Need a discount to close a deal? Ring the office for a discount code. Reps do not set prices, and a discount you are given comes out of your commission unless we say otherwise.
- Renewals of an advertiser you originally sold pay 15% of what they pay, for as long as you are actively selling. If we hold their price below the rate card to keep them, that discount comes out of our share, not yours.
- A lead we generate and hand to you pays the same 30% as one you found yourself. We would rather you took the call than argued about the rate.
- If a card does not fill and the advertiser takes the refund, that commission is not earned. If they stay with the card and it later mails, it is - the sale held. We would rather say both halves of that up front than surprise you with either.
- Websites, call tracking and the AI receptionist you sell to your advertisers pay 15% on the first sale and 10% on every renewal for as long as you are actively selling.
Representatives are 1099 independent contractors, not employees. You set your own hours and your own methods, and you are responsible for your own taxes. We make no representation about what any representative will earn.
Who this suits
The people who do well with this are already in front of small business owners. Printers and sign makers are a natural fit, as are promotional product reps and people who sell websites or point of sale systems. So is anyone who has run a patch for a local paper or radio station. The pitch fits into a conversation you are already having.
It suits people who like a short sales cycle. There is one price and one page of terms, with a refund promise attached to a date. That leaves little to negotiate and not much to go wrong after the yes.
It does not suit someone who wants a salary while they learn, or someone looking to buy a territory and build a business on top of it. That is a different arrangement and it is not the one we are offering.
A patch, not a purchase
You are assigned zones to work. Hold them by selling them, not by paying for them.
Real inventory to sell against
You can see which categories are open on which card, live, and so can the person you are pitching.
Nothing to fulfill
You never chase artwork or juggle print deadlines, and you never make an awkward call about a card that slipped.
What the work actually looks like
You are selling a physical thing to businesses on a street you can drive down, which makes this an unusually concrete sale. The card exists and the zone is a real list of routes. The categories shown as open are open right now, not subject to a conversation with head office.
Most reps work a zone at a time. You know which categories are still available on the next card in that neighborhood, so the qualifying question is simply whether the business is in one of them. That is a much shorter conversation than most advertising sales, because there is nothing to configure and nothing to price.
The strongest pitch is usually the card itself. A previous drop from the same neighborhood, in hand, with sixteen local businesses on it, answers more objections than any explanation. Once a zone has mailed once, selling the second card is a different job entirely.
The part people underestimate is the last few slots. Getting a card from eleven advertisers to fourteen is where the real work is, and it is what fills the cards your commission comes from. A rep who is comfortable going back to the same street twice does well here. A rep who only wants easy first calls does not.
What you get to work with
- Live category availability per card
- A route list and home count for every zone
- Printed cards from previous drops
- A booking link that takes payment directly
- Your own commission ledger, updated per card
You never have to ask anyone whether a category is still open. You can see it, and so can the business you are sitting with.
The objections you will hear, and the honest answers
We would rather you had real answers than a script. All of these are reasonable things for a business owner to say.
Direct mail does not work any more
Ask what they tried and when. Usually it was one drop, with a weak offer, to an area they picked by instinct. That is not a test of mail, it is a test of one card. The honest position is that mail works for some trades and not others, and the arithmetic of their own job value decides which they are.
I will get lost among the other ads
Fair, and only partly true. What they are buying is a share of attention they could not afford on their own, plus the one thing a solo card cannot offer, which is that a card carrying sixteen useful local numbers is more likely to be kept than a card advertising one business.
I need to think about it
Do not manufacture urgency. Tell them the truth: the category is open until someone in their trade takes it, and the card mails when it fills. Both of those are real facts with real dates attached, and they are more persuasive than any invented deadline.
How do I know it will even go out?
This is the best question they can ask and we have built the answer into the product. The refund date is on the confirmation before they pay. If the card does not fill, they choose between their money back and 20% off the next card. Lead with it rather than waiting to be asked.
How to start
Tell us where you want to sell
Name the town or the neighborhoods. If we already run zones there, we will tell you which categories are open on the next cards. If we do not, we will tell you what it would take to open one, which is usually a handful of interested businesses rather than a fee.
We agree the terms in writing
A short independent contractor agreement covering the commission schedule, when it is paid, the zones you are working and what happens if you stop. No fee, no minimum and no purchase.
You get access and cards to show
Live availability for your zones, a booking link that takes payment, and printed examples. If the zone has mailed before, you get the route list and the previous card. You will OWN the zones. There is always only one rep per card.
You sell, and that is where your part ends
Once payment clears, the advertiser becomes our responsibility. Artwork, proofs, printing, the post office, tracking, reporting and any refund conversation are all ours. You go and find the next one.
What we expect in return
Very little, structurally. Nobody sets you a quota or asks for reports, and there is no weekly call. What we do ask is that you sell the card as it actually is. The exclusivity and the refund date are both real, so nothing needs to be exaggerated to make the pitch work. An advertiser who was told something inaccurate becomes our problem at proof time and yours at renewal time.
The other thing we ask is that you tell us when a zone is not going to fill. Knowing at week three that a neighborhood is stalling at nine advertisers gives everyone options. Finding out at the refund date gives nobody any. We may be able to help.
A note on how we describe the money
The commission schedule above is the actual schedule and it is what goes into the agreement. What you will not find anywhere on this site is a figure for what a representative earns, because that depends entirely on how many cards fill in your area and we have no honest basis for predicting it for you. Anyone in this industry who leads with an income number is telling you something they cannot know.
Already selling for us?
Your portal shows every card you are working and every slot sold on it. It also shows what you have earned so far and what is still riding on cards that have not gone to print yet.
Rather talk it through? Leave a name and number and we will call you back.
