What you are agreeing to
- One payment in full when you reserve. No deposit, no balance later.
- Your category closes to every other business in your trade on that card.
- If the card has not filled by the date we give you, take a full refund, or stay with it and take 20% off your next card. Your choice, not ours.
- Nothing prints without your written approval of the proof.
Not seeing your neighborhood? Ask us
Tell us your trade and where you want to reach. We reply the same working day; asking holds nothing and costs nothing.
What happens after you pick your slot
You see the whole card first
The card page shows every slot, which trades are already taken, the price and the dates. If your trade is taken, it says so.
You pay once and your category is locked
One payment. From that moment nobody else in your trade can be sold that card.
You send a logo and an offer
We design the ad and set it for press. You do not need artwork of your own.
You approve a proof of the real card
Not a mock up of your ad on its own. The actual card, with your ad in its slot and the other advertisers around it, so you can see exactly what a neighbor will hold.
Want the detail first? How it works walks the whole process end to end, and pricing lists both formats and what a slot costs.
The categories on a card
A card carries a spread of trades rather than a dozen versions of the same one. That is what keeps it useful to the person holding it, and it is why a category being taken is a genuine no rather than an upsell.
Food is split by what you serve rather than lumped together as "restaurants". A pizzeria and a sushi place are not competing for the same customer on a Tuesday night, so both can be on one card. Two pizzerias cannot, and nor can two sandwich shops or two seafood places. If your trade is not on the list, pick Something else and tell us what you do: that is the one line that does not lock anybody out, and we will set your category up properly.
Roofing, painting, windows, pressure washing
Trades where the job is worth four figures or more and the homeowner only buys once every several years. Mail works here because you are not trying to catch someone who needs you today, you are trying to be the name they already know when they finally do.
HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pest control
Emergency trades where the search happens under pressure and the first name to hand tends to win. A card on the fridge is a very old fashioned advantage and it still works.
Lawn, pool, cleaning, pest
Trades where one new customer is worth years of revenue rather than one invoice. These are usually the best fit for shared mail, because the value of a single conversion covers the slot several times over.
Food, salons, fitness, med spa
Anything where being physically nearby is most of the pitch. A card that reaches about five thousand homes right around your door is a very direct way to say that.
Insurance, real estate, legal, dental
Longer decision cycles where familiarity matters more than a deal. These slots usually work best with an offer that costs the reader nothing, like a review or a consultation.
Not on this list?
The list is not fixed. If your trade sells to homeowners in a defined area, it probably fits. Tell us what you do and we will tell you honestly whether we think a card will work for you.
What to put on your half of the deal
You are buying a rectangle on a card that a person will look at for a couple of seconds on the walk from the mailbox to the kitchen. That is the whole opportunity, and the most common way to waste it is to try to use it for everything at once.
The ads that work carry one offer with one reason to act, and they give the reader a single way to respond. The ads that do not work list nine services and add a paragraph about how long the company has been operating. Then they offer three different ways to get in touch, and none of them stands out. We will say so if we think yours is heading that way, because a slot that produces nothing is worse for us than an awkward conversation.
A specific number is stronger than a percentage. A deadline is stronger than an open offer. Something the reader can keep, like a fridge magnet line or a checklist, outlives the card itself. Point the code at the page on your own site that matches the offer rather than at your front door. A reader who lands on the thing they came for converts far better than one dropped on a homepage that talks about nine other things.
A typical timeline
- You reserve and pay
- day 0
- Artwork drafted
- within a week
- You approve the proof
- your pace
- Card must be full by
- the date on your confirmation
- At the printer
- after the art deadline
- In mailboxes
- the mail date
- Artwork proof to you
- before it goes to press
Every one of those dates is on your confirmation before you pay, including the one that gives you the choice between a refund and 20% off the next card.
What happens to your money between now and the mail date
You pay in full when you reserve, and the card may not mail for several weeks. That gap is the part of shared mail where advertisers get burned, so it is worth being explicit about how it is handled here.
Until the card locks, what you paid is money we owe back rather than money we have earned. It is not spent on printing, on postage or on anything else until the card has enough advertisers to be real. That is the mechanism behind the refund promise, and it is why the promise can be unconditional instead of a best effort.
It also removes the incentive that causes most thin cards. An operator who has already spent the deposits has a powerful reason to mail whatever they have and hope nobody counts the ads. If the money is untouched, refunding is no worse for us than mailing, so the decision gets made on what is right for the businesses on the card rather than on what we can survive.
One payment
No deposit, no balance, nothing to chase and nothing to dispute later.
Refundable until lock
The date is on your confirmation before you pay, not buried in terms you have to go looking for.
Rolling, if you prefer
Most people would rather be on the next card than have the money back. That choice is yours.
Choosing the neighborhood matters more than anything else
Everything else about a card can be adjusted. The offer can be rewritten and the artwork redone. You can even switch formats. The zone is the one decision that quietly determines whether the whole exercise works, and it is the one most advertisers spend the least time on.
Be specific about where you actually want more work. Not the whole county, and not the area you technically cover. The streets where the jobs you enjoy come from, and where you can get to a call without half a day of driving. Zones are assembled from individual postal carrier routes, so we can usually get close to a boundary you describe in plain language.
Tell us about the housing too. If you replace roofs, a neighborhood of thirty year old single family homes is worth several times a newer development, and a zone heavy with rentals is worth less than its home count suggests. We look at this when building a zone, but you know your own market better than any census table does.
Worth telling us
- The subdivisions or streets you already work
- How far you will realistically drive
- The age of housing your work suits
- Any area you would rather not be called from
- Whether your trade is seasonal here
If we do not run a zone where you want one yet, say so anyway. Zones open where several trades want the same neighborhood.
Your ad comes with its own QR code
Free, and on unless you switch it off on your artwork page. It opens your website, or your free landing page if you have no website, and we count the scans for your results: once per phone per 30 minutes, no personal data. Keep the offer code and the line asking people to mention the card as well; a scan only counts the people who scan.

Want every call counted? Call tracking, $49 a year
An optional add-on, not part of the slot price. You choose a local number in your area code and it prints on your ad in place of your phone number. Calls ring straight through to you, and answering plays a short greeting ("Postcard Advantage call. Press 1 to accept") so a person always hears it is a postcard call. Pressing 1 puts the caller through. We count every call and email you about any you miss. Calls are never recorded. Add it when you book your slot, or later from your artwork page. More on call tracking.
Never lose a missed call: AI receptionist add-on · $99 a year
An optional add-on that requires call tracking. When nobody takes a call to your tracking number, a friendly virtual assistant answers with your business name, takes the caller's details and what they need, and emails you the message within seconds so you can call them back. It only says what you have told us about your business, never quotes prices or books jobs, and calls are never recorded. $99 a year on top of call tracking ($148 a year for both). For phones that ring all day there is busy call tracking, $149 a year instead of $49 a year, with 5,000 forwarded minutes a year, and the busy receptionist, $249 a year instead of $99 a year, with 1,000 messages a year. Each part upgrades on its own, for the difference. More on the AI receptionist.
After the first card
You will know whether it worked
Put a code on the offer or coupon and count the redemptions, and watch your own call volume against the weeks before the drop. A quiet first card is worth knowing about honestly rather than being told a flattering number.
Your category is held before it is resold
If you were on the last card in a zone, that category is kept for you while you decide on the next one. Nothing renews automatically and nothing bills you again on its own. You have to actively say yes, which we think is the right way round even though it costs us bookings.
Booking ahead guarantees a spot
Committing to several drops in the same zone holds your category across all of them. It also matches how mail actually works, since the second and third time a household sees your name is doing more than the first. It is the single change most likely to improve your result.
None of that requires a decision now. Reserve one slot and see what the card does. Then decide with real numbers in front of you rather than a projection from us.
If you are not ready to book
Send the form anyway and say so. Knowing which categories people are asking about in which neighborhoods is how we decide which zone to build next. We will keep in touch by email as cards open near you and as slots in your trade come up, so you hear about it before it sells to someone else.
