Already on a card

Artwork changes, proof questions, or how the last drop went. Mention the zone and the mail date and we will find your slot straight away.

Selling in your area

We take on independent sales representatives who sell slots in their own neighborhood while we produce and mail every card. Read how that works.

Things worth knowing before you write

Most of what people email to ask has a short answer, and having it up front saves you a round trip.

How quickly you will hear back

Messages that arrive during the working week are answered the same day, and usually within a few hours. Anything that comes in over a weekend is answered on Monday morning. There is no call center and no ticket queue behind this form, so the reply comes from the person who would actually run your card.

If you are asking whether your category is open

Use the booking page rather than this one. Every open card is listed there with the trades already taken, so you can see the answer straight away. If your neighborhood is not listed, the short form on that page asks for your trade and where you want to reach.

If your area is not covered yet

Tell us anyway, and be specific about which streets or which subdivision. New zones get opened where there is demand from several trades at once, because a zone needs enough advertisers to fill a card before it is worth building. A single request rarely opens a zone. Four or five from different trades in the same neighborhood usually does.

If you are already on a card

Mention the zone and the mail date and we will find your slot straight away. Artwork changes are possible right up until the art deadline printed on your confirmation, after which the card is at the printer and nothing can move. Past that date with something genuinely wrong? Say so, and we will tell you honestly whether it can still be caught.

If you want to talk about results

Tell us what happened after the drop, good or bad. Hearing that a card was quiet is better than finding out when you do not renew. It is also how the next zone gets picked better.

If you are a printer or a mail house

We are always interested in talking to printers who run oversized cards well and can hold a schedule. Get in touch with your turnaround times and what you run.

What to have ready if you are close to booking

None of this is required to start a conversation, but having it to hand turns a week of back and forth into a single exchange.

01

Your logo, as a real file

A vector file is ideal. A large image file is fine. A logo pulled off your own website is usually too small to print without going soft, and it is the single most common reason artwork gets held up.

02

The offer you want to run

One clear thing, not a list of everything you do. A specific number beats a vague discount, and a reason to act beats both. Not sure yet? Say so and we will help you shape it.

03

Where you actually want to be seen

Name the neighborhoods you already work in and the ones you want more of. Zones are built out of postal carrier routes, so we can usually get close to the boundary you have in your head.

Would you rather talk it through with nothing prepared? That is completely fine. Most first conversations start with someone asking whether this works for their trade at all, and that is a fair question to want answered before spending an afternoon on artwork.

Rather talk it through? Leave a name and number and we will call you back.

Who you are actually writing to

There is no massive team here and no lead routing. The message you send goes to the person who picks the carrier routes, lays out the ads, works with the printer and drops the pallet at the postal facility. That has an obvious downside, which is that replies come at human speed rather than instantly, and one significant upside, which is that nobody will tell you something on the phone that turns out not to be how it works.

It also means we can answer awkward questions properly. Ask whether shared mail is a good idea for your particular trade in your particular neighborhood and you will get a real opinion rather than a yes. Sometimes that opinion is that you should spend the money somewhere else first, and we would rather say it than take a booking that produces nothing and never renews.

We are a small operation and we are not pretending otherwise. Everything about how the card works, including the refund promise and the rule about not mailing a thin card, is designed around the fact that we have to be able to look at the same businesses again in three months.

01

Same working day

Messages sent Monday to Friday are answered that day. Weekend messages are answered Monday morning.

02

No lead selling

Your details are used to answer you and nothing else. We do not sell enquiries on to anyone.

03

We keep you posted

Ask a question, get an answer. After that we keep in touch by email, so you hear when a card opens near you or a slot in your trade comes free.

A few things people ask that do not fit anywhere else

Q

Can I see a card before I commit?

Yes, and you should ask. Once a zone has mailed at least once we have physical cards and the route list that went with them. Asking to see what a previous drop actually looked like is one of the most sensible things you can do before handing any shared mail operator a budget, and anyone who cannot produce one is worth being careful with.

Q

Do you work with national brands or franchises?

Local franchise owners, yes, on exactly the same terms as any other local business. National campaigns run centrally are usually not a fit, because the whole premise of the card is that every business on it is somewhere the reader could drive to this afternoon.

Q

Can two related businesses share one slot?

No, and this comes up more than you would expect. A slot is one business, one category and one offer. Splitting it between a plumbing company and an air conditioning company owned by the same person would put two categories in one rectangle and make both ads too small to work. Dining could include a taco shop and an ice cream parlor, but not two pizzerias.

Q

What if I want the whole card to myself?

That is a solo mailing rather than a shared card, and it is a genuinely different product with a genuinely different price. We can quote it, but we will usually suggest testing the channel on a shared card first, because finding out whether mail works for you is much cheaper that way.

Where we currently mail, and where we are heading

Zones are opened one carrier route at a time. That deliberately slow approach is the reason we cannot simply say yes to every address: tell us where you want to reach and we will tell you straight whether there is a card for it yet.

Areas we have worked in follows, for the straightforward reason that we already run websites for businesses there and know the towns. After that, expansion happens through independent sales representatives who sell in their own area while every card is still designed, printed, mailed and tracked by us. That keeps the promises on these pages identical everywhere rather than varying by whoever happens to be selling.

Where your area is not on the list, the single most useful thing you can do is tell us which streets and which trades. Four or five businesses from different categories asking about the same neighborhood is what actually opens a zone, and it happens faster than you would expect once the requests start pointing at the same place.

If you want a zone opened

  • Name the subdivisions, not just the town
  • Tell us your trade so we know which category it fills
  • Mention any other local businesses who might want in
  • Say whether your work there is seasonal

There is no waiting list fee and no commitment in asking. It is genuinely just information we use to decide what to build next.

Not sure this is for you?

Say that in the message and describe your trade and your average job value. The most useful thing we can do in a first conversation is work out with you whether the arithmetic holds, and it very often takes about three sentences.

If the answer is that a card is unlikely to pay for itself in your case, we will tell you, and we will usually be able to say what we would spend the money on instead. That costs us a booking and saves you a season of wondering whether direct mail works. It is a trade we are happy with, because the businesses that come back are the ones the numbers actually worked for.
